Installing or testing your PSU

If you feel that your Psu may have failed, you can test it buy the following link:

Testing your PSU

If you need to replace the Psu unplug the power cable and remove the side pannel.

Make sure you have your antistatic wrist band on.

Locate the Psu normaly in the top left hand corner of the tower, and carefull unplug the cables note which cables go where. (this will make it easier to fit the new unit.)

On the rear of the tower remove the four screws holding the Psu while supporting the Psu with the other hand. Remove the faulty unit and discard.

Now you can fit the new unit, first by slotting it into the tower and replacing the four screws in the rear of the unit, to secure it to the tower.

Replace the large 20 or 24 pin plug to the Motherboard, then plug in the 4 or 8pin ATX 12V plug to the motherboard.

Next plug in all the 4pin molex plugs to the Hard Drives, Dvd Drives, case fans and any other components you may have fitted.

Plug in the floppy drive  (if fitted)

Then you can plug in the 4,6 or 8pin PCIe to theGraphics Card (if supported)

Replace the case covers and power cable.

Your now ready to boot your machine.

(DO NOT TRY TO REPAIR OR REMOVE THE COVERS OF THE FAULT PSU AS THE UNIT STORES A LOT OF POWER EVEN WHEN SWITCHED OFF)
